About Y99 Arcade

Y99 Arcade is a free arcade in a browser tab. Pick a game, it starts. No download, no account, no launcher. It is run by y99.tech.

Where the games come from

Every game here is one of three things: homebrew written by people still making games for old consoles and released under an open licence; freeware, where the author says it may be passed around; or public domain.

Each game's card shows the licence it was released under, and the catalogue records where the file came from so the claim can be checked. That isn't a promise in prose — the site will not list or launch a game whose entry has no licence and no source. It is a rule in the code.

We do not host commercial ROMs. No Nintendo, Sega, Capcom or SNK titles, however old. Those belong to the people who made them.

How it runs

The emulation is EmulatorJS, an open-source project (GPL-3.0) that runs console cores in the browser through WebAssembly. Nothing is installed on your machine. Save states and settings live in your own browser, not on our server.

You made something here

If you wrote one of these games and want it taken down, or you think a file is on the site under the wrong licence, write to takedown@y99.tech with the game's name and it comes off the same day. No forms and no argument — we would rather have a smaller library that is entirely above board.

If you have made a homebrew game and want it added, the same address works, and it is a much nicer email to get.
